Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji – Movie Preview

Judging from the promos, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji seems to be a fun and joyful, movie all the way. It is a story of  a group of three guys and is a slice of life kind of movie. This gang constitutes of Naren Ahuja played by Ajay Devgn, Nikhil played by Omi Vaidya (Chatur from 3 Idiots) and Abhay Suri  played by Emraan Hashmi. Every love story follows the same pattern of boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl etc. etc. Naren (Ajay)  is divorced and is looking for love all over again. While working at a multinational bank as a manager, he meets Shazahn Padamsee. Unfortunately, he is well past the dating age, and is awkward and nervous during his courtship. Emraan Hashmi is a flirt,  underqualified for any regular job, he works as a trainer in a gym. He loves all the good things in life and is seeking only temporary flings, but changes tracks when he discovers true love in free bird Shruti Haasan.  Omi Vaidya is a shy and introvert person, the kind of guy who’s probably never spoken to a girl outside his Maths class in high school. He works at a matrimonial website and is searching for “true love”. Omi falls in love with a wannabe actress who works as a radio jockey. His love interest is played by Shraddha Das.

This is Madhur Bhandarkar’s first attempt at directing a romantic comedy, hence we have to wait and watch whether he shows the same directorial skills while making a different type of movie.

From the promos it seems that the characters are realistic and are people we can relate to.The film is about ordinary people falling in love, and about the comical situations they get involved in when trying to deal with  this new complication in their lives. Dil To Baccha Hai Ji is a comedy about how far people will go when they fall in love.

The music for the film was written by Pritam, and it is typically pleasant and average in quality. The song “Abhi kuch dino se” is a definite chartbuster. It brings back the memories of first love for anybody who’s ever been there.

Watch out for Omi’s second outing since 3 Idiots. His Hindi seems to be much better now and his comic timing is perfect. When he says “Sex, before marriage. Never! I hate…”, you can see how genuinely scandalized he is … the scene is enough to put a smile on your face.

Ajay Devgn has given us many hits in 2010 and we are hoping that his good luck will carry over to this year.  Emraan Hashmi has had too many flops lately and he must also be hoping that his first comic role will give him a much needed hit.

In the final analysis, Dil to Baccha Hai shows potential and promise and it is quite likely that it may achieve some modicum of success at the box office.
