Kaminey Music Review
The music of Kaminey is surprisingly one of the freshest albums of 2009. The music is an eclectic mix of upbeat sounds and vague drifty themes. The highlight of the album, of course, is the chart busting track ‘Dhan Te Tan’. In short, the music of Kaminey is quite reminiscent of the music of Omkara. There are two remixes on the album – Dhan Te Nan and Raat Ke Dhai Beje which have inflated beats and tempo.
The title track of Kaminey is a soothing number with piano fills and painful vocals beautifully sung by Mohit Chauhan. Another track which is elegantly done on the piano is Pehli Baar Mohabbat. However, one can sense a certain repetitiveness in the music. What makes this track different are the poetic lyrics that do strike a warm chord. Nothing unique in Raat Ke Dhai Baje – the tunes contain basic dhol beats and some melodious fills. The vocals are decent and pleasant.
Dhan Te Nan is a nice vibrant track which features a faintly similar tune. Though I cannot recall it, but I am quite certain that we have heard this signature trumpet/sax tune somewhere before. Nevertheless, the tunes on this one convey the basic themes of Kaminey – a thrilling, action packed suspense.
Verdict
Even though it is still a wee bit early to comment on the box office success of the music album, one can still grab a copy and enjoy some of the fresh tunes. I personally feel that the music has been solely written to add flavour to the movie so you will have to wait for the movie to release and then enjoy the music of Kaminey.
