Luck Movie Review

This film is a copy of the French film “13 Tzameti” but it loses its way within 15 minutes of the start of the film. There has been a genuine attempt to make a good thriller, but at some point our producers have to learn that this is not the way.

A good heart pounding – sitting at the edge of the seats thriller does not come from films where the dialogues tend to wander into clichés and where the entries of the true bad boys is marked by slow-motion and heavy metal music.

The story line begins on a good premise – bounty hunting. The need for money and the exploitation of those who need it is a theme on which innumerable films have been made. In this film the three main protagonists , Ram(Imran Khan), (Ayesha(Shruti Hassan), and Major(Mithun Chakravarty) make a pact with Musa to gather money by playing with their lives. Sanjay Dutt as Musa is disappointing. Somehow his large frame but gentle demeanour, reminds us more of Munnabhai roles than of renowned villains.

Shruti Hassan comes from an impressive lineage, and she does show promise, but she has miles to go, and needs to get Hindi diction lessons in order to improve her dialogue rendition. Imran is the media and box-office darling but this time he does not match our expectations.

The much hyped death defying stunts are there, but somehow they do not reach they do not reach the crescendo of a really good climax or of nail-biting suspense.

The music is of better quality than the film. The Khuda ye number does rise above the levels of mediocrity but the background score of the film does the story an injustice.

Our recommendation  – we really do not think it is worth a recommendation !!
