My Friend Pinto Movie Preview

May 27, 2011 by Shivangni 5 Comments

Get ready to say hello to My Friend Pinto this summer, yet another film featuring the talented young star Prateik Babbar. Directed by Raaghav Dar and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali Films, My Friend Pinto will be Prateik’s third movie in 2011 after Dhobi Ghat and Dum Maro Dum. It will be the first film with him in focus though. Starring alongside him is Kalki Koechlin. In addition to them, the film also features Arjun Mathur, Shruti Seth and Divya Dutta.

My Friend Pinto

It is a romantic comedy in which Prateik plays Michael Pinto while Arjun, Kalki and Shruti play Sameer, Maggi and Suhani respectively. Pinto is a sweet and funny guy who is followed by accidents wherever he goes. While he lives under the innocent belief that everything happens for the good, people around him grow tired of all the trouble he causes. But in the end it all comes down to one night when the fate of several lives rests on his shoulders. What happens next? That remains to be seen.

In My Friend Pinto, we will get to witness Prateik’s dancing skills for the first time. He had a great time performing not only the conventional filmy styles, but also a more orthodox genre of dancing.

After making her debut in Anurag Kashyap’s Dev.D, this is Kalki’s second tryst with Bollywood and her first release post her marriage to the director. She had received a Filmfare award for Best Supporting actor for her role in Dev.D and will be hoping to make a good impression this time too.

The movie is set to release in  August, 2011. The release date of the movie was reportedly moved back in order to avoid a clash with SRK’s Always Kabhi Kabhi, probably learning from the fate Bhansali’s movie Saawariya suffered at the hands of Om Shanti Om. After the lukewarm response his rather publicised film Guzaarish received, he will be hoping his production venture does better.

Hmm.. looks interesting. One note though.. I think Kalki’s Shaitan is releasing before this one. And this is a SLB production, it’s directed by someone called Raaghav Dar.
