F.A.L.T.U. Promotions And Release Strategies – Setting New Trends

While F.A.L.T.U. looked like any other movie, the promotional team is hell bent on proving otherwise. While F.A.L.T.U. became the first Indian movie to offer exclusive online music downloads, it has also done several other things right.

The re-launch vehicle of Vashu Bhagnani’s cute looking sonny Jaccky Bhagnani is also marking the directorial debut of ace choreographer Remo D’Souza and also introducing Pooja Gupta .  No wonder then that the entire team is going all out to make their presence felt. Jaccky Bhagnani has been making appearances on the regular run-of-the-mill promotional events like a guest appearance on Bindaas’ Date Trap, visit on the Jhalak Dikhla Ja show where Remo himself is a judge and another “appearance” on Red FM radio.

However, apart from these normal ways of promotion, the F.A.L.T.U. team has gone all out to promote in cool, new and innovative ways.  For one, the music of the movie was released exclusively online! For as little as Rs. 40, you could well download all the songs of the movie. Well, that’s surely a first for Indian movies. They have also gone ahead and tied up with Zee TV and are releasing the movie online worldwide (excluding India). The movie can be downloaded for just $2.89 on 1^st April 2011 at 4pm GMT from http://www.zeetv.com/faltu/. This move would benefit both the movie viewer as well as the filmmakers. Cutting out piracy by making the movie easily available at prices much less than the theater tickets abroad, they have certainly made a smart move.  Not only that, early registration can also win some lucky people cool prizes. Apart from that, there is lots of cool F.A.L.T.U. merchandise out there for grabs. Funky T-shirts, bottles, mugs and what not…  it’s out there for grabs and you can buy the merchandise online.  That also seems a first for any Indian film which is not a superhero or mythological movie.

F.A.L.T.U. has become a trendsetter of sorts with these innovative and cool ideas. Well, we are hoping that the movie itself is also as cool and original as its pre-release preparations are.
